Hello! I’m a thirty-something Londoner, stumbling her way through the persistent hurdles of London life.
In 2017, I left my comfortable job with a healthy salary, nice benefits and a delightful annual bonus to start my own brand marketing consultancy. It started as a solo venture but at 3am (the time all my best ideas seem to be sprung upon me), I came up with the concept of The Doers. Many very talented industry friends were, like me, starting their own freelance ventures and I wanted to find a way for us to all work together. One year later, I got myself a business partner (who also happens to be one of my best friends) and together we brought the vision to life.
I’ve always been a workaholic but as I venture further into my thirties, I’m craving experiences that do more for me personally than professionally. I’ve got itchy feet to travel more. I’m developing my love of food by cooking all the time. I’m more curious about life than I’ve ever been before. And I’m writing, a lot.
I’ve kept my old blog, Jess Does Blog, live and functioning and I’ll slowly but surely migrate the good stuff from there on to here.
I hope you enjoy the words I share with you as much as I enjoy writing them.
3 (questionably) essential facts about me
I’m a rare breed.
I was born near Richmond-upon-Thames and have near enough never left Greater London. I still reside in SW London and love it here.
The kitchen is my church.
I come from a strong lineage of home cooks and inevitably was going to inherit the same skills. I cook ALL the time and love nothing more than feeding friends.
I’m addicted to bread.
Like many others, I used the 2020 lockdown to develop a new skill. I made my first sourdough starter in April of that year and have never looked back.
